There are no fees or tuition costs to participate. Winter Breakaway is completely free for Duke students.

No. Students can only enroll in one program during Winter Breakaway.

Unfortunately, students graduating in December 2020 can not participate in Winter Breakaway.

Students on leave from Duke and in good academic standing with the university may participate in Winter Breakaway. Students on disciplinary leave may not register for Winter Breakaway. Students with no academic record at Duke, such as those taking a gap year, are not eligible for Winter Breakaway.

We ask that you commit to a program. We can facilitate changes in registration before the programs begins, if space allows.

If you would like to switch to another program, email us at duke-winterbreakaway@duke.edu, and we can facilitate this change.

Unfortunately, DKU students cannot participant in Winter Breakaway. Duke students enrolled in the Duke at DKU study away program are eligible for the Winter Breakaway program. 

No. Students can only register for one Winter Breakaway program. If you are waitlisted in your first-choice program you have two options:

1. Withdraw from your first-choice program’s waitlist and register for another program.
2. Wait to see if you get confirmed as a registered student in the program- which would remove you from the waitlist before the registration deadline of December 1st. After December 1st all program waitlists will be released. If you remain on the waitlist on December 1st, you will have until December 4th to register for another program.

No. Winter Breakaway is an opportunity for Duke students.
